Redwood Acres Public School Shares its harvest with seniors

The grounds of Redwood Acres Public School in Hanmer got a facelift last year thanks to the generosity of Home Depot. Employees volunteered their time to work with parents, students and staff to build planters, work on garden beds, and till and move soil.

Redwood Acres Public School is now harvesting what it has sown and seniors in the community will reap the rewards.

On Wednesday, September 9th, 2009, students and parents from Redwood Acres Public School will visit seniors at the Elizabeth Centre to donate lettuce, potatoes, turnip, carrots, tomatoes and other vegetables from the school garden.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to pay it forward,” said Principal Michelle Walton. “Students and parents took care of the garden all summer long. They look forward to presenting the fruits of their labour to community seniors.”
