ELSWho is eligible? Unemployed or underemployed youth (under the age of 30) who have graduated with a degree or diploma from a post secondary institution within the last three years, are legally entitled to work in Canada, and have not been previously employed under a FedNor Youth Internship funding Agreement, or other Federal or Provincial Internship with pay for a period of six (6) months or more.

Eat Local Sudbury is a unique, not-for-profit co-operative that strives to increase the amount of locally-grown food products both produced and consumed in Sudbury, ON. We do this by providing a retail space in downtown Sudbury where “eaters” can buy local food and farmers/producers can sell their products.

We are seeking a Bilingual Marketing & Education Intern for a one-year contract. The Intern will be responsible for developing educational and outreach materials as well as our assisting with our “Meet Your Farmer” marketing campaign. The candidate will also make presentations in both French and English at community events to promote the environmental, economic and health benefits of eating locally.

Salary: To be negotiated. This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) and is partially funded by FedNor’s Youth Internship Program.

Start Date: ASAP

Qualifications: Successful candidates will have knowledge of the following.
Fully bilingual in French and English – oral and written communication
Strong interpersonal and communications skills with an outgoing personality
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Communications/Marketing an asset
Excellent presentation skills
Knowledge of cooperative principles and functions
Excellent organization skills
Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Microsoft Front Page/Web Expressions an asset
Sound record-keeping abilities
Previous experience working with a not-for-profit organization an asset
Solid understanding of food sustainability issues an asset

Job Description:
Assist with executing marketing campaigns to increase awareness of local and sustainable food issues, as well as farmer profiling. This includes assisting with the development of farmer trading cards and calendars
Develop materials and deliver presentations in French and English
Represent Eat Local Sudbury at community events with bilingual display
Create in-store signage and promotional materials
Develop and conduct market surveys of coop members
Assist with sales and customer service
Attend monthly Board meetings
Other tasks as required
