Training Exercise On October 19 For Snowplowing

Approximately 55 snowplows, graders and other vehicles used for winter maintenance will patrol municipal roads during a series of training exercises this month. The first training exercise is scheduled for Monday, October 19, starting at 6 p.m. and continuing through the rest of the night on residential roads.

The test run of winter vehicles and equipment is an opportunity for crews to identify potential hazards, obstacles and operational challenges that can be addressed prior to the winter season. Most snow clearing vehicles are outfitted with Automatic Vehicle Locator (AVL) units that allow supervisors to track vehicle location, speed and equipment function.

Additional training exercises will be scheduled in October. Residents who have questions about this training exercise are asked to call 3-1-1 for municipal services.
